FORMER CHAIRMAN WANTS BERNAMA TO MAINTAIN PROGRESS
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 12 (Bernama) -- Former Bernama Chairman, Mohd
Annuar Zaini, whose contract of service ended on Jan 31, hopes that Bernama can progress further in channelling news to the community.
He also advised Bernama staff to work as a family in a harmonious, happy and
productive environment.
"Lets make a lot of friends, lets forgive each other, lets try to create
happiness together," said Mohd Annuar in his speech at a farewell gathering in
his honour at Wisma Bernama, here Thursday.
He said he was proud to have contributed towards Bernama's progress during
his six years of service and was confident that Bernama, under the General
Manager, Hasnul Hassan was capable of achieving greater progress in future.
During his tenure as Bernama Chairman, Mohd Annuar had introduced and
launched the Bernama Editorial System Terminal (BEST) for the Editorial
Department and launched the 24-hour radio news and television channel namely the
Radio24, and Bernama TV.
Mohd Annuar, 59, was the ninth Bernama chairman and had served the agency
since Feb 1, 2004.
Hasnul, in his speech, said under Mohd Annuar's leadership, Bernama had also
launched the Mandarin news service in 2004.
Two Bernama personalities who had served as Editor-in-Chief and General
Manager of the agency, Syed Jamil Jaafar and Azman Ujang, both
said Mohd Annuar had strived to move the agency forward.
Also present at the function were Bernama Editor-in-Chief Yong Soo
Heong and more than 200 Bernama staff.
