Lao businessman enjoy LAK use promotion
Vientiane,Feb 11 (KPL)- Entrepreneurs and production groups have agreed to pay close attention to dissemination and monitoring of the payment for goods and services in kip – the national Lao currency.
The commitment was made at a meeting at the Bank of the Lao PDR (BOL), on 5 February to promote the use of Lao kip (LAK) among business and production groups.
The promotion is supported by Lao President’s bill and Prime Minister’s decree on foreign currency management and promotion of LAK use.
Director of the Monetary Policy Department of the Lao Central Bank, Ms Valy Pholsena who chaired the meeting, has praised the previous involvement in the promotion of LAK use of all sectors.
A representative of the Lao Brewery Company, Mr Bounlam, said that “our company has paid attention to the Lao government policy regarding the promotion of people using local currency.
“Our products are always labelled in Lao kip and sold only in kip currency,” he said, adding that when customers buy our products in foreign currency, they would be denied and suggested to pay in Lao kip only.
While President of the Lao Salt Production Group Ms Bounthavy Chounlamany, also expressed appreciation to the promotion policy of Lao kip use of the Government.
She said that the use of kip had been appreciating in society however there should be more appropriated measures to penalize violators.
