RTMB SOON TO HOLD INTERNATIONAL TRACKING EVENT

Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara, Feb 13 (ANTARA) - The Rinjani Tracking Management Board (RTMB) will soon hold the Rinjani International Tracking 2010 which is aimed at attracting more tourists to West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

"I will soon leave for Jakarta to organize the international tracking event," Head of the NTB Culture and Tourism Agency Lalu Gita Ariadi, who is also RTMB chairperson for the 2008-2013 period, said here Saturday.

Ariadi said the event in Mt Rinjani will be joined by mountain climbers with a higher carrying capacity compared with ordinary climbers.
Coordination will also be made with runners from Yugoslavia who had once organized a similar event to Mt Rinjani, planned in mid- 2010.

She said the RTMB is required to improve services for tourists wishing to climb Mt Rinjani, especially with regard to safety and comfort when visiting one of the leading tourist location on Lombok Island.

Mt Rinjani is the second highest volcano in Indonesia after Mt Kerinci (3,800 meters) in Sumatra, and has become very popular among both local and foreign tourists.
