15/2 Tass 289

MOSCOW, February 15 (Itar-Tass) - Russia, India and Kazakhstan will
shortly launch joint production of GLONASS equipment, Deputy Prime
Minister Sergei Ivanov said at a meeting with Prime Minister Vladimir
Putin on Monday.

"I expect that in the near future we will not be just signing some
documents and intergovernmental agreements, as in fact they have already
been signed, but we will design equipment and jointly introduce GLONASS on
the territories of these states," Ivanov said.
"We have quite good prospects as to international cooperation on
GLONASS, and first of all with India and Kazakhstan," the deputy prime
minister stressed. Putin asked Ivanov to pay special attention to
Russian-Indian cooperation on the introduction of the navigation system.
"In the first half of March I expect to pay a working visit to India,
and we will surely discuss that issue among others with our Indian
partners," Putin noted, asking Ivanov to focus on that.
