Lavrov to visit Mexico on final leg of CentAm tour Tue.
GUATEMALA CITY, February 16 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Minister of Foreign
Affairs Sergei Lavrov is about to complete his tour of Central American
countries.
On Tuesday he travels from Guatemala to Mexico for an official
visit to meet with the country's leadership and discuss prospects for
broader and stronger bilateral interaction, and to attend the opening of a
Russian Language Center at the National Polytechnical Institute.
The programme for the visit provides for the Minister's meetings with
Mexican President Felipe de Jesus Calderon Hinojosa, as well as talks with
his Mexican counterpart Patricia Espinoza Castellano on a wide range of
topical problems of world politics and bilateral agenda.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrei Nesterenko pointed out that
the visit is intended "to promote a further strengthening of the political
dialogue between our two countries, and practical headway in mutually
beneficial cooperation in various fields."
.Int'l aviation financing conference opens in Moscow Tue.
MOSCOW, February 16 (Itar-Tass) - About 150 representatives from
Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Europe, and the
United States will take part in a second international conference, opening
here on Tuesday, on the theme of "Aviation Financing and Leasing in Russia
and the CIS".
Those present are to focus their attention on "a discussion of the
current state and immediate prospects of the sector by representatives of
air companies, financial institutions and lease granters," Alexei Komarov,
chairman of the conference organizing committee, has told Itar-Tass.
The recession year 2009, Komarov said, inflicted a substantial damage
on the economic position of many a Russian air carrier, thereby
undermining trust in the sector on the part of financial circles and lease
granters. Under these conditions, it is reckoned important to map out
mutually acceptable ways for the renewal of the fleet of air vehicles by
Russian air carriers.
The conference will be held in the format of two sessions. At the
first session those present are to consider the evolution of the air
transportation market. In particular, they are to make a forecast for the
renewal of air vehicles by Russian air companies against the background of
the development of the world market of commercial airliners. Other reports
will deal with the current changes in the sphere of financing, the winning
of investors' trust, and leasing arrangements.
At the second session, specialists are to focus on specific
instruments for a solution to all these problems.
