Quake measuring 4 pts registered off Kamchatka`s coast
PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, February 17 (Itar-Tass) - An earthquake
measuring 4.3 points on the open-ended Richter scale has occurred off
Kamchatka's eastern coast.
There have been no victims or destructions and the authorities did not
issue tsunami warnings.
Spokespeople for the Kamchatka affiliation of the Geophysical Service
reporting to the Russian Academy of Sciences told Itar-Tass the quake was
registered at 03:17 local time Wednesday /15:17 GMT Tuesday/.
Its epicenter was located 165 kilometers to the northeast of the
regional capital Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and the seismic focus was
identified at the depth of 40 kilometers below the surface of the earth.
Crust tremors of up to 2 points could be felt in different parts of
Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
