Britain involved in Yemen conflict: Iran

TEHRAN, Feb. 17 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said here on Tuesday that Britain has played a role in Yemen’s recent crisis.
“It’s necessary to point to some countries that had a behind-the-scene role in the crisis, and in order not to reveal their role they tried to blame other countries for the crisis… It seems that one of those countries is Britain,” Mehmanparast said in a press conference on Tuesday.
On U.S Secretary of States Hillary Clinton’s visit to the Middle East, Mehmanparast said regional countries are wiser than to let their collective interests be overshadowed by political objectives of the outside powers.
Foreign Ministry spokesman stated he was confident that regional countries are perfectly capable of resolving problems and restoring peace through cooperation and good relationship.
He added the only favor that the extra-regional powers can do is to leave the region as soon as possible.
Zionist regime has no clout to influence Iran’s ties with world
Mehmanparast said the Zionist regime is unable to influence Iran’s relations with other countries.
He also said lobbies by Israel for stronger sanctions on Iran are fruitless.
Israel’s prime minister has visited Moscow to press the Kremlin official to join the U.S. and its European allies to impose new sanctions against Iran.
Iran backs nuclear-free Mideast
Mehmanparast reiterated that Iran will support a nuclear weapons free Middle East.
Iran and Egypt were the two first countries in the Middle East which proposed the idea, he added.
The major threat is posed by the Zionist regime, which possesses nuclear weapons, he noted.
Tehran to host confab on nuclear disarmament in April
Mehmanparast said that Tehran is going to host a conference on nuclear disarmament in April.
He added that officials, scientists, pundits have been invited to this conference.
