GCC states to fund sciences museum in Sana'a
SANA'A, June 24 (Saba) - Minister of Higher Education and Scientific
Research Dr. Saleh Ali Basura has met with a number of Gulf states
ambassadors to Yemen.
Basura talked with Saudi ambassador Ali al-Hamdan, Omani ambassador
Abdullah al-Badi and charge d' affairs of Qatar embassy Yusef
al-Mahmoud on the cooperation relations among higher education
institutions in Yemen and the Gulf Cooperation Council states and
possibilities of GCC's contribution to setting up a sciences museum
in Sana'a.
Basura reviewed steps of setting-up the museum according to
constructional studies and designs with Dutch partnership and
international consultation.
He hailed Qatar's $10 million support to set up the museum's
building, adding that France showed readiness to finance the project
as well as Total and Canadian Nexen companies agreed to finance the
construction of some parts of the museum and provide its required
equipments.
They also discussed Yemen's accession as a member into higher
education institutions of GCC and required steps to achieve in
addition to discussing mechanisms of boosting and activating
cooperation among Yemeni universities and their counterparts in the
GCC states.
