CANADIAN ENVOY TO LEAD BUSINESS DELEGATION TO BANDUNG
Jakarta, Feb 17 (ANTARA) - Canadian Ambassador to Indonesia Mackenzie Clugston will lead a business delegation to Bandung, West Java, on February 18, 2010 in order to expand Indonesia-Canada relations.
"Bilateral trade relations between Canada and Indonesia reached 1.8 billion Canadian dollars, (Rp15.8 trillion) in 2009," said Mackenzie Clugston, according to press release from the Canadian Embassy in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Mackenzie put confidence in the initiative will help companies from both Indonesia and Canada find new opportunities, which is particularly important in this time of global economic downturn.
In this forum, West Java business practitioners will have the opportunity for one-on-one meetings with members of the Canadian delegation, which will also visit a number of major companies in West Java.
The two-day mission's visit was organized with the cooperation of the Indonesia-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) which is supported by the Regional Chamber of Commerce (KADINDA) and the West Java Province government.
Ambassador Clugston and the delegation are scheduled to meet the Governor of West Java, Ahmad Heryawan to explore the possibility of closer cooperation between West Java Province and Canada.
The delegation will include representatives from Canadian companies active in Indonesia consisting of insurance field (Manulife), techniques and infrastructure (SNC Lavalin, Mc Elhanney), lubricating oil (Petro Canada) and portable electrical transmission tower (SBB Profile Acier Inc.).
Then company engaged in the field of fire equipment (Industries SEI), roofing materials (Iko Industries Ltd), power generation equipment (Babcock and Wilcox) and higher education in the creative industries (Lasalle College International).
