Terrorist groups under Iranian watch: police chief
ZAHEDAN, Feb. 18 (MNA) -- Police chief Esmaeil Ahmadi-Moqaddam has said that terrorist groups operating in Iran are under the close watch of the Intelligence Ministry.
“Although the terrorists groups operate under the U.S. and British intelligence umbrella, all their actions are under the watch of the Iranian intelligence,” Ahmadi-Moqaddam told IRNA in Zahedan on Wednesday.
He said the police in close cooperation with the Iranian Intelligence Ministry and the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps have paralyzed all terrorist groups linked to foreign intelligence agencies.
The national police chief also condemned the U.S military operations in southern Afghanistan’s Helmand province, expressing doubt the assault would eventually curb the illicit drug smuggling in the area.
Although the Taliban announced they had evacuated Helmand province, the U.S kept attacking the area which, Ahmadi-Moqaddam said, has only displaced civilian population in the freezing winter.
