Four Russian regions demonstrate business abilities in Geneva

GENEVA, June 24 (Itar-Tass) - Representatives of the business
communities of nine Russian regions will on Tuesday give a news conference in Geneva to present their vision for developing international economic ties between Swiss and Russian regions and concrete business cooperation projects.

The news conference "The Russian Economy: regions' growing role" will
be held in a prestigious Swiss press club. Its collective members include
not only journalists but also more than 30 major Swiss companies and
several Swiss-based international political, economic, public and sport
organizations.

Three republics - Bashkortostan, Tatarstan and Udmurtiya- as well as
the Kaliningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, Penza, Sverdlovsk, Tomsk and Chelyabinsk
regions, will represent the Russian side.

The Swiss Press Club's Executive Director Guy Mettan said that unlike
several years ago when Russia's economic might was concentrated in Moscow
and St. Petersburg, Russian regions are coming to play a bigger role in
conditions of the country's rapid economic growth.

"It is exactly why we are so interested in getting to know their
abilities and outline areas of mutually-beneficial cooperation," Guy
Mitten went on to say.
