PRESIDENT SIGNS ORDER TO ACCELERATE MEDIUM-TERM DEVELOPMENT PLAN
Jakarta, Feb 18 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Thursday signed a Presidential Instruction (Inpres) for the acceleration of priorities of the Medium-Term National Development Plan for 2010-2014.
In his speech at a cabinet meeting at the presidential office here on Thursday he hoped the Inpres could be immediately implemented by the central and regional administrations.
The Inpres was issued to follow up the meeting in Cipanas early in February 2010 which was attended by all provincial governors in the country, cabinet ministers and state-owned company officials.
Before signing it the head of state had discussed it for two days with Vice President Boediono and ministers concerned.
"I am glad and thankful to the vice president, ministers and others as within two weeks after my instruction in Cipanas after a working meeting attended by governors an Inpres can be issued for implementation by the central and regional administrations," he said.
The Inpres contains instructions for accelerating development priorities in 2010 including clearing of obstacles in various fields, increasing targets and seeking quick solutions to various problems.
"We have become aware of the problems identified at the National Summit, the Medium-term National Development Plan for 2010-2014 and the first 100 days programs need follow-up actions," he said.
After the issuance of the Inpres the President hoped acceleration of development priorities in the Medium-Term National Development Plan for 2010 could be carried out and always measured and monitored at every stage of evaluation.
At the cabinet meeting attended by Vice President Boediono and all cabinet ministers except Communications and Information Minister Tifatul Sembiring who is still on an overseas assignmen as well as members of the Presidential Advisory Council, President Yudhoyono specially raised one of the pillars of the Medium-term National Development Plan for 2010-2014, namely justice and public welfare particularly for the poor.
