Chinese car hits Lao market

(KPL) - China-made cars, model of CHERY QQ car, is hitting Lao market amid higher oil price and costs of living.

In the expensive oil situation many Lao people is seeking economic cars, which is able to save more oil and being reasonable price in order to reduce the higher living cost as much as impossible. Therefore CHERY QQ might be a new choice for Lao people living in city.

According to Mr Yai Phommachack,
Director General of CHERY Buathip Lao, Ltd disclosed that since 2006, the
model of CHERY QQ has been popularized sharply in the Lao market due to its
model is designed to be the save oil with reasonable price that general
people can afford it.

The CHERY Buathip Lao, Ltd, a sole importing company
imported Chery QQ model from China has been available in Laos since 2005.

He told KPL news that the in 2005 his company faced difficulty because Lao people had not acquainted with CHERY car and they had never seen before.

"Therefore we had tried to seek new niche market in Laos by advertising
through the Lao media such as radio, TV and newspapers. Until 2006 we could
have seen obviously that Lao people have considerably known CHERY car and
many Vientiane residents have used this kind of car seemed to increase
sharply" he said.He said that main reason that more Lao people used CHERY
car because this car can save oil with a littre of petrol per 50 kilometres.
The current price is available for sales worth US$ 6,000, but this car
suitable to run in the city.

He continued that about 700 car of CHERY cars have been sold since 2006. He expected that this year net sales would increase around 1.000 cars.
