GOVERNMENT TO REVITALIZE WAREHOUSES FOR SUPERIOR COMMODITIES

Mataram, Feb 15 (ANTARA) - The government will soon revitalize warehouses for various superior commodities to improve their economic value, a minister said.

"In an effort to step up the economic value of superior commodities, the government finds it necessary to revitalize warehouses as soon as possible," Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu said here on Monday.

The minister made the statement after a coordination meeting with West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Governor M Zainul Majdi and his rank and file here.

At the coordination meeting, the governor explained the potentials of the province's superior commodities and the local government's effort to optimize them.

Governor Zainul Majdi explained that West Nusa Tenggara had superior commodities in agriculture, fisheries, maritime, mining and tourism sectors.

After listening the explanation from the governor, Pangestu said she was pleased and satisfied with the province's superior commodities and expressed hope that they could be managed optimally for the local people's welfare.

"At the coordination meeting, I told the West Nusa Tenggara governor that to step up the value of the local commodities, warehouses should be revitalized and price stability should be maintained," Pangestu said.

She said the government warehouses managed by the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) and regional administrations would be revitalized to store the superior commodities in the next three years.
