US CRUISE SHIP TO CALL AT BAUBAU

Baubau, Feb 15 (ANTARA) - The US cruise ship "Clipper Odessey" from Miami which is currently on an international trip plans to call at Baubau in Southeast Sulawesi next month, a local tourism official said here on Monday.

Muhammad Djudul, the head of the local tourism and culture office, said he had confirmed with the operator that the ship would call at Murhum port on March 12, 2010.

"The ship will call at several tourism regions in the country including Baubau where tourists can enjoy local cultural objects in the city," he said.

Djudul said one of the tourist objects in Baubau is the fort of Buton Palace which is the world's longest and widest fort.

"Besides the palace the tourists will also visit several other tourist objects and therefore we have prepared various arts and culture programs to welcome them," he said.

"The number of tourists on board the ship is around 250 but according to the operator only around 80 will disembark," he said.
