CONTAMINATED FOOD KILLS ONE IN CIANJUR
Cianjur, W Java, Feb 15 (ANTARA)- A Nagasari villager, in Leles suburb, West Java district of Cianjur died on Monday after consuming contaminated food and drink, the village head said.
The dead resident was Rohimah (60) but the contaminated food and drink were also consumed by 33 others. As a result, they got sick, Head of Nagasari village, Sa'dudin, said.
Due to the fact that the public health center was about five kilometers away from the village, the ailing sick victims were temporarily treated at a local resident's house, he said.
Sa'dudin said the exact causes of the contamination of the food and drink that his people consumed were not scientifically tested.
Witnesses said the poisoning occurred when the villagers were having their afternoon meal at home, he said.
But, 34 of them suddenly got a headache and vomited. Rohimah died of the dehydration before having medical treatment.
Sa'dudin said he had asked the local paramedics to find the cause of the poisoning.
"For the time being, thirty three residents are being treated by several midwives and paramedics at a villager's house," he said.
