UNHAS HOSPITAL CONDUCTS SYNTHETIC INSEMINATION

Makassar, Feb 15 (ANTARA) - The hospital of Hasanuddin University (Unhas) which was dedicated by National Education Minister Muhammad Nur on Monday, will provide services not provided by dr Wahidin Sudirohusodo hospital.

Its services will include a Fertility Endocrine Reproductive Centre where synthetic fertilization takes place.

The Hasanuddin University Hospital, the university's rector Prof Dr dr Idrus A Paturusi, said Sunday, provides a national education program to raise medical technology capacity in solving various difficult and complicated medical cases by research and medical services.

"This hospital will synergize with dr Wahidin Sudirohusodo hospital in providing medical services," the rector said.

He said the hospital will focus more on the diagnostic centre and hightech treatment by applying technology and sophisticated medical instruments and equipment and will also be used by students and hospital practitioners as their training center.

The dean of the medical faculty of the university Prof dr Irawan Yusuf said the hospital will also accept references from other hospitals in handling various medical problems which cannot be handled by other hospitals.

He said synthetic insemination, a cancer center, radio-therapy, immunotherapy, gen therapy, and others, like trauma center, neuro intervention centre (including early detection of brain abnormalities, stent installation, application of gamma knife, stem cells, and one day care.

As a training center, the hospital also focuses on research for medical science, and handling advanced medical cases.

Besides providing one day care facility for post surgical patients, the hospital also provides first and second class hospitalization, wile VIP hospitalization is given with cooperation of dr Wahidin Sudirohusodo hospital which as private wing facilities for VIP patients.

The two hospitals will in the future be mutually complementing in their medical services, especially in the eastern parts of Indonesia.

The Hassandin hospital is the implementation of a national program of the Ministry of National Education. A number of other training hospitals will also be opened at various universities in the country such as University of Indonesia, Gajah Mada University, Airlangga Universitas, and Hasanuddin University Hospital as the first training hospital in Indonesia.

The eight-floor hospital has a floor space of 17,000 square meters, and built in seven months for the first stage.

It is built by PT Pembangunan Perumahan at a total cost of Rp66 billion, not to mention sales tax and the contents of the building.
