LANDSLIDE ISOLATES TALEGONG INHABITANTS
Garut, West Java, Feb. 19 (ANTARA) - A landslide isolated 30,871 residents of 9,801 families at Talegong, Garut, according to a local official here on Friday.
The landslide was triggered by the collapse of Cibuburial bridge, the only bridge connecting Talegong and Cisewu sub districts, Rena Sudarajat, Talegong sub district head, said.
The bridge collapse has cut off transportation from and to Talegong.
A local inhabitant identified as Tatang was believed to have been buried in the landslide and his body was still missing. A day earlier, Wahyu, Cipasang resident, was found dead after being hit by an uprooted tree due to a landslide at Datar Balendung.
Landslides have continued to hit West java over the past two weeks, she said.
