RUPIAH WEAKENS AGAINST US DOLLAR ON PROFIT TAKING MOVES
Jakarta, Feb. 19 (ANTARA) - The rupiah weakened against the US dollar in the Jakarta interbank spot market here on Friday morning on profit taking moves.
The Indonesian currency traded Rp9,345-Rp9,355 per US dollar, down 55 points from Rp9,290-Rp9,300 per US dollar at the market's close a day earlier.
The local unit weakened as investors sold the rupiah to take profit and ignored the positive issue on Wall Street gain, according to Rully Nova, PT Bank Himpunan Saudara Tbk.
He believed that the rupiah still had a chance to move upward again in the afternoon especially it there is an internal positive issue.
