PRESIDENT RESPECTS MECHANISM IN HOUSE CENTURY INQUIRY

Jakarta, Feb 19 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono respects the mechanism in the investigation of the Bank Century case by the House committee, his spokesman, Julian Aldrin Pasha, said here on Friday.

He said President Yudhoyono believed the committee would produce recommendations which are positive for all parties.

"The President leaves it fully to the mechanism. So long as it is still within the normal corridor provided for in the process we will follow," he said at the presidential palace compound.

He said the President held the view that no party should be sacrificed for the settlement of the bailout case.

"The President believes that the truth will emerge. No party should be sacrificed without clear reasons. So there should never be sacrifices or something improper. Hopefully, the final results will reveal the truth acceptable to all parties so that none would feel they are designed to harm certain persons or groups," he said.

The House Century Bank Inquiry Committee has set up a small team to formulate the final results of its investigation into the government's decision in 2008 to inject Rp6.7 trillion into the Century Bank to prevent its possible collapse considered to cause a systemic effect.

The committee is expected to submit its conclusions early next month.
