DUBAI POLICE WANT INTERNATIONAL TEAM TO PROBE MURDER OF HAMAS MAN
DUBAI, Feb 19 (Bernama) -- Dubai Police chief Lieutenant-General Dahi
Khalfan Tamim said he would seek an arrest warrant against Mossad's chief,
Meir Dagan, if the Israeli spy agency is proven to be behind the recent killing
of a Hamas official in Dubai.
Mossad's hand in the Jan 19 murder of Mahmoud Al-Mabhouh at a hotel was
"almost a certain thing", Gulf News daily quoted him as telling Dubai TV last
night.
Dahi said an international security team comprising the United Arab
Emirates (UAE), Britain, Ireland, France and Germany should be set up to deal
with the assassination.
The Lyon, France-based Interpol has issued Red Notices for 11
internationally-wanted individuals in connection with the murder.
An Interpol statement alluded to Dubai authorities' claim that British,
French, German and Irish passports were used in the operation to kill
Al-Mabhouh.
A number of individuals were reported as saying that their identities had
been stolen and that they were not involved.
"Authorities in Britain, France, Germany and Ireland for their part say
they believe the passports from their countries used by the alleged killers
were fraudulently altered," Interpol said.
Interpol said since it had reason to believe that the suspects linked to
the murder had stolen the identities of real people, the Red Notices specified
that the names used were aliases used to commit murder.
"Interpol has officially made public the photos and the names fraudulently
used on the passports in order to limit the ability of the accused murderers
from travelling freely using the same false passports," the statement added.
