Iranian carmaker to unveil Peugeot 207i

TEHRAN, Feb. 20 (MNA) – The vice-president of Iranian giant carmaker Iran Khodro Company said that the company will unveil its first produced Peugeot 207i today.
IKCO plans to obtain a lion’s share of the market with its new product which includes features such as a 1,600cc engine, full options and manual or automatic gearboxes, Mir-Javad Soleimani said.
According to Soleimani, the model will be distributed in countries which are Peugeot trade partners including Brazil, Argentina, Malaysia and China.
He stated that the state-of-the-art technology has been used in this car which thanks to its looks and price appeals both young people and families around the world.
The IKCO official said the Peugeot 207i complies with the roads, fuel and various climates in Iran, adding that next Iranian calendar year (starting March 2010) 15-20 thousand units of the car will be built.
He said ABS brakes, airbags, an anti-theft system, special safety belts and locks that open after airbags are other features of the car which is up to par with EURO 3 environment standards.
It also has other new features such as automatic adjusting windshield–wipers, adjustable headlights, and moving backseats for creating more space in the trunk, he said.
He noted that this new model heralds the entrance of a new generation of high-tech Peugeot cars.
