GO BACK TO BASICS, MSIAN PM WIFE TELLS PARENTS

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 20 (Bernama) -- Parents should go back to basics by
passing on to their children the tradition of being respectful and thankful of
others.

Rosmah Mansor, wife of the prime minister, said out of love for
their children, parents should not leave the responsibility of teaching their
children entirely to schools.

"I am taking a serious view on this matter, why youths nowadays do not say
thank you, do not feel they are indebted or do not have respect for others.

"We need to have an awareness campaign, a programme teaching children to
respect others. We may have to relive the tradition where our mothers would
pinch us if we do not say 'thank you'.

"Nowadays, mothers no longer pinch their children, if their children make
mistakes, they will not be reprimanded," she said on the Hello Malaysia
programme over BernamaTV at Wisma Bernama here Friday night.
