IN-FLIGHT STYLE ENTERTAINMENT SET TO ENHANCE ROAD TRAVEL EXPERIENCE
By Muin Abdul Majid
DUBAI, Feb 21 (Bernama) -- In-flight style entertainment could soon be available
for people travelling on commercial vehicles like buses and coaches across the
Middle East.
Designed by Taiwanese firm Funtoro Inc, the media-on-demand (MOD) system is a
patented multimedia technology which can support up to 54 monitors
simultaneously in any vehicle using a single server, offering each passenger the
chance to enjoy their own selection of movies, music, digital TV, video games
and Internet access.
Funtoro vice-president Arthur Huang said the company's mission was to create an
intelligent vehicle that was able to provide top-class entertainment and the
latest in mobile communication besides maximising vehicle safety and
environmental protection.
The MOD system will be introduced at the Commercial Vehicles Middle East show
taking place here from March 9 to 11.
Its promoters said that while the MOD system had been designed for
commercial vehicles such as buses, coaches, taxis and even metros, it was also
suitable for passenger cars and vans, and could be upgraded to support several
hundred monitors on a train.
It can also integrate with a vehicle's rear view camera and tyre pressure
monitoring system, helping operators to improve road safety.
