M'SIA MAKE A CLEAN SWEEP IN OPTIMIST CATEGORY IN DOHA REGATTA

LANGKAWI (Malaysia), Feb 21 (Bernama) –- Malaysia made a clean sweep in the
Optimist open category at the Qatar International Regatta 2010 which ended in
Doha Sunday.

Malaysian Yachting Association (MYA) general manager Mohd Afendy Abdullah in an
e-mail to Bernama said national back-up sailor Ahmad Latif Khan took the top
spot while his compatriots Ahmad Syukri Abdul Aziz, Muhamad Faizal Norizan
Muhamad Farhan Hamid finished second, third and fourth respectively.

"Overall, Malaysia emerged as runners-up, which is an outstanding
achievement," he said.

In the Laser 4.7 open, Malaysia's Nur Amirah Hamid finished second out of a
field of 25 sailors while her teammates Mohamad Amirul Shafiq and Khaurneeta
Mohd Afendy were third and sixth respectively.

Some 200 sailors from Belgium, Bahrain, Oman, Tunisia, Australia, New Zealand,
Norway, Pakistan, India, Iran, Malaysia and hosts Qatar competed in the regatta.
