.Wet avalanches block Trans-Caucasus highway.
VLADIKAVKAZ, February 22 (Itar-Tass) -- North Ossetia's government
decided to suspend the traffic on the Trans-Caucasus Highway after
midnight on Monday over several wet avalanches, the republican Emergency
Situations Ministry told Itar-Tass.
"It was raining in the highlands all day long that made the snow wet
on the slopes and snow covers. As a result two wet avalanches went down on
the highway. The volume of avalanches can be assessed just after dawn,"
spokeswoman for the North Ossetian Emergency Situations Ministry Yulia
Sterchenko told Itar-Tass.
The roadmen will start removing snow from the Trans-Caucasus Highway

.Russian biathlete Zaitseva says Vancouver silver happiest for her.
WHISTLER, February 22 (Itar-Tass) -- The silver medal in women's
12.5-km mass start at the Vancouver Olympics is simultaneously "gold,
silver, bronze, the happiest and most joyful one" for Russian biathlete
Olga Zaitseva.
In the comments at the race finish full of emotions, hardly breathing
after a tough competition with German rivals Magdalena Neuner and Simone
Hauswald the Russian biathlete exclaimed that she "did not realize her
success yet."
"Before the race we did not think about anything good, just intended
to do a very hard work. It can sound banal for someone, but all was just
this way," Olga said. "During the race I was getting very good information
from the coaches, was following closely their instructions that helped me
too.
In the first Olympic races I lacked concentration, by the way, today
at a shooting stage as well. Perhaps, now I can blame myself for this
miss, but the competition is already over and nothing can be changed. So,
I have the motto - "the lower you fall, the higher you will jump, the
stronger you will push off and you will fly high." "Our team fell down
very deeply, and now is flying high. This medal is very heavy, we had a
failure, all of us were disappointed, but now all worries are behind. This
medal is the happiest and most joyful for all of us, we managed to get out
of the hole we fell into. It is really our day at the Olympics today,"
Zaitseva said.
.New Ukraine PM may be appointed already in week - Yanukovich.
KIEV, February 22 (Itar-Tass) -- The coalition of stability and
reforms may be formed in the Supreme Rada already next week, Ukrainian
President-Elect Victor Yanukovich said on Sunday.
"The active stage of talks will begin on Monday. After a week of talks
it will be possible to say something. By the way, the guesstimates are
just underway. Each politician is looking into his prospects," he said in
an interview with the Ukraina television channel.
According to Yanukovich, it is necessary "to draft a depoliticized
agreement based on the policy to solve economic issues, put order in the
country and launch reforms."
"This agreement will suit all factions in the parliament. The name for
a new majority is already offered - "the coalition of stability and
reforms." Currently this name is timely," the president-elect said.
He also expressed confidence that this majority would be formed
already with a new premier in mind. A candidate for premier will be
nominated already next week, Yanukovich believes. "There are several
candidates, who are discussed at various levels - Nikolai Azarov, Sergei
Tigipko and Arseny Yatsenyuk. It is not difficult to predict who will be
stronger among them, around whom the deputies will unite, but we will wait
and see," Yanukovich underlined.
