Better way for protecting Vat Phou discussed

VIENTIANE,FEB 22 (KPL) - Laos and France have reviewed their cooperation on the conservation of the Vat Phou complex temple to seek ways for better protection.
Vat Phou Champassak temple in the southernmost province of Champassak, was proclaimed a world heritage site of UNESCO in 2001.
Last year, more than 300,000 visitors of domestic and foreign tourists visited the Khmer-style stone-built Vat Phou Champassak temple.
In order to further protect the Vat Phou Champassak temple, the Steering Committee for Vat Phou Champassak Heritage Culture Conservation and the Ministry of Information and Culture held a meeting at the National Culture Hall last Friday to review the previous implementation of Vat Phou protection and to set a protected plan.
The meeting was co-chaired by Minister of Information and Culture Mounkeo Oraboun and French Ambassador to Laos, Mr. Francois Senemaud.
