Iran's alumina production hits 193,000 tons

TEHRAN, Feb. 22 (MNA) – Alumina powder production in the eleven-month period ending February 19 reached 193,000 tons growth, showing 5.5 percent growth compared with the same period in the last year.

According to CEO of Iran Alumina Company Hosein Ehteram, by the end of the current Iranian calendar year of 1388 (March 20) the country's alumina production will reach 210,000 tons from 200,000 tons in the last year.

The Iranian official said that 328,000 tons of hydrate alumina were also produced which is 5.5 percent more than last year.

Ehteram said that in the past 11 months $60 million worth of alumina was sold which is 6 percent more than the same period last year.

He pointed out that Iran Alumina Company is the sole producer of alumina in the country, adding that 20,000 tons of its products will be exported by the end of the Iranian calendar year.
