MINISTRY MULLS INCENTIVES FOR GREEN ENERGY
BAHAU (Malaysia), Feb 23 (Bernama) -- The Science, Technology and Innovation
Ministry is looking into awarding incentives to those who venture into "green"
electricity generation, said its minister Dr Maximus Ongkili.
"Supporting packages from related agencies also need to be streamlined to
spur innovation in the green energy field. This will help boost the waste to
wealth industry," he told reporters after visiting Felda Serting Hilir's biogas
plant near in Bahau, a town in Negeri Sembilan state, here Monday.
Negeri Sembilan is located on the western coast of Peninsular Malaysia,
just south of Kuala Lumpur and is bordered in the north by Selangor, in the east
by Pahang and in the south by Malacca and Johor.
Also present was Federal Land Development Authority (Malaysia) Felda Palm
Industries Sdn Bhd chief executive officer, Abdul Halim Ahmad.
The plant is a pioneer project using palm oil mill effluents as the raw
material with technology provided by Putra Universiti of Malaysia (Universiti
Putra Malaysia - UPM) and Kyushu Institute of Technology.
