AZERI GRECO-ROMAN WRESTLERS MAKE SUCCESSFUL START IN DAUGAVPILS

Baku, 25 June, (AzerTAj)The first day of the free style and Greco-Roman championship in Daugavpils, Latvia, was successful for Azerbaijan as the country`s three wrestlers managed to win a medal, all in the Greco-Roman event.

According to the country`s Wrestling Federation, the team`s best result was posted by Nijat Muradov who beat all his rivals to claim 50 kg gold.

Silver came from Aslanbek Alborov in the 85 kg class, while Nurlan Hajiyev weighing in at 58 kg had to be satisfied with bronze.

In the free style event, Azerbaijanis Chingiz Gakhajov (42 kg) and Parviz Akhundov (69 kg) ranked fifth and seventh respectively.
Another five Azeri wrestlers will be in action later in the day.
