LOOK AT OWN STRENGTHS TO ENHANCE MALAYSIA-INDONESIA PARTNERSHIP - ENVOY

JAKARTA, Feb 23 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian private sector and expatriates
here have been asked to look at their strengths to enhance the country's
partnership with Indonesia.
Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia Syed Munshe Afdzaruddin Syed Hassan
said they should come together as a dynamic, competitive, robust and resilient
community, and at the same time, re-invent their network to make their presence
seen and felt.
However, he reminded them that they should not only work to achieve the
desired
objectives of their respective companies but also achieve Malaysia's
aspirations to attain common prosperity for both countries.
"Indonesia is one of Malaysia's closest neighbours. The two countries share
common heritage, common history and we are fated to share a common destiny.
"There are abundant opportunities to work towards the common prosperity of
both
countries and their people," he said when speaking at a dinner hosted by the
Malaysian Club Jakarta (MCJ) here Monday night.
Syed Munshe Afdzaruddin said his embassy was willing to facilitate the
Malaysian business community in Indonesia in meeting the challenges in this
country and finding the right solution to problems.
In this regard, he said, there was a need for both the embassy and the
Malaysian business community to develop a new pattern of interaction and
symbiotic relationship, in the spirit of Malaysia Incorporated of the
public-private sector partnership.
"We should harness our strength and synergy so that our respective roles are
effective. We should develop a sense of common purpose and national pride as
Malaysians, while continuing to enhance our profesionalism, befitting our
ambition to become a developed nation by 2020," added the ambassador.
He said he was always available for discussion and consultation with the
Malaysian business community in Indonesia.
He also invited members of the MCJ to make use of the sports and
recreational facilities at the embassy, participate in the activities of the
Association of Malaysian Women known as Perwakilan, and send their children for
the Saturday morning classes at the Sekolah Bimbingan Malaysia (Malaysia Guiding
School) which taught
subjects on Malaysia, Malay Language (Bahasa Malaysia) and Islam.
