China ready to intensify trade, economic coop with Kazakhstan -

BEIJING, February 23 (Itar-Tass) -- China is ready to pool efforts
with Kazakhstan in order to intensify bilateral trade and economic
cooperation, Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs Yang Jeichi said during
Tuesday's meeting with Kazakhstani State Secretary and Foreign Minister
Kanat Saudabayev.
During the talks, the Chinese foreign minister also stressed that
China plans to step up relations and strengthen cooperation with
Kazakhstan in the format of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
In addition, Yang highly assessed progress achieved in the contacts
between the two countries.
Saudabayev, in turn, confirmed that Kazakhstan would continue to do
its best for further development of strategic interaction with China and
maintenance of closer cooperation with that country in the fight against
terrorism, separatism and extremism.
During the talks, the two foreign ministers also discussed process in
the implementation of agreements reached during earlier meetings at the
top level, as well as mapped out a plan of Kazakhstani-Chinese trade,
economic and humanitarian cooperation.
Yang and Saudabayev touched upon such issues, as interaction in the
energy sector, guarantee of global and regional security, and joint use
and protection of trans-border water resources.
In the second half of the day, the Kazakhstani foreign minister had a
meeting with Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao. The sides focused on the
current status of and prospects for bilateral trade and economic
cooperation, as well as interaction in the development of renewable energy
resources.
