Planet Childhood-2010 exhibit opens in St Pete Wed.

ST PETERSBURG, February 24 (Itar-Tass) - The entire spectrum of goods
and services for kiddies and teenagers is on view at a Planet
Childhood-2010 international exhibition that opens here on Wednesday, with
more than150 companies from France, Russia, Belarus, Holland, Spain, and
Turkey participating.
Organizers laid emphasis on the problems of education and teaching
novelties -- with due regard for the fact that 2010 has been designated in
Russia as the Year of the Teacher. A multimedia educational complex or an
interactive training class is one of products of innovations-oriented
development efforts.
The programme also provides for conferences dedicated to education
and health of children, State support for St Petersburg industry
manufacturing goods for children, and a roundtable meeting on the theme of
"The Education of Youngsters as Factor in the Demographic Development of
Russia".
Provision is also made for training sessions to improve mutual
understanding in the family, various master classes, and contests.
The Planet Childhood - 2010 has been included in the list of official
events dedicated to the Year of France in Russia. This is why visitors can
get information on French universities, schools, language courses, and
French lessons.
A LenExpo official has told Itar-Tass that the exhibition, which has
been arranged with support from the Russian Ministry of Education and
Science, and the Association of Toymakers of Russia, "is called upon to
promote the pooling of efforts of the teaching staff, production and
commercial organizations, educationalists, and social welfare specialists
in the implementation of projects in the children-oriented sector.
