Iran's AE chairman thanks Intelligence Ministry for Rigi arrest
TEHRAN, Feb. 25 (MNA) -- Assembly of Experts Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani has thanked Iran’s Intelligence Ministry for the arrest of Jundullah terrorist group leader Abdolmalek Rigi.
Most of the major powers that support terrorists were forced to welcome the arrest of Rigi to keep up appearances, Rafsanjani said at an Assembly of Experts session in Tehran on Wednesday.
The terrorist ringleader was on a flight from the United Arab Emirates to Kyrgyzstan when he was tracked down by Iranian security forces on Tuesday.
Rigi was detained on board the flight and the plane was forced to land at Bandar Abbas Airport, where Rigi and his aide were arrested.
The Pakistan-based Jundullah group has carried out numerous terrorist attacks in Iran.
