Iran serves as bridge between East and West

TEHRAN, Feb. 27 (MNA) – Iran has acted like a bridge between the West and the East, Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani has said in remarks in Japan on Friday.
From a historical perspective, Iran is viewed as a bridge that links the Western cultures like Greece’s with Eastern cultures like China's and Japan’s, Larijani said in an address to a group of professors and researchers from Meiji University in Tokyo.
He also said that Iran and Japan are both gifted with rich culture.
Iranians have always been righteous and forgiving people and perhaps, there is no country like Iran in which people with different religions co-exist, he stated.
Iran is the only country in the Islamic world whose philosophy has passed from generation to generation, he noted.
Western propaganda campaign against Iran
Larijani said that some Western powers have launched a propaganda campaign against Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities.
He made the remarks at a joint press conference with his Japanese counterpart Takahiro Yokomichi on Wednesday.
He went on to say that Japanese officials should be quite confident that Iran’s peaceful nuclear program is similar to that of Japan.
Larijani reiterated that Iran has no plan to produce nuclear bombs.
“We appreciate Japan’s approach to Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities and believe that Japan has a much better understanding of global realities and developments,” he stated.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he said the two counties’ parliaments could play a leading role in expanding bilateral relations.
He also said that the close cooperation between Iran and Japan on Afghanistan can serve as a model for other countries.
He also said the oppressed Afghan nation has suffered huge losses inflicted by terrorists.
Afghanistan’s neighbors can play a vital role in restoring peace and stability to the war-torn country, he added.
