Tsunami warning issued in Russia's Kamchatka.
PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, February 28 (Itar-Tass) -- A tsunami warning
has been issued in Russia's Kamchatka following the devastating Chile
quake. The tsunami wave one meter high is expected to reach the Kamchatka
coast at about 15:00 local time (06:00 a.m. Moscow time) on Sunday, a
source in the Kamchatka government told Itar-Tass.
According to the source there was no threat to any settlements and
there was no need in evacuation of the population.
The wave is expected near the settlement of Ust-Kamchatsky and in
Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, no damages are forecast, the region's minister
of special programs Sergei Khabarov said.
According to the Kamchatka tsunami warning centre, the wave might
bring the sea level up by several centimetres in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
The situation is monitored by the regional emergencies administration.
