‘No regional intelligence agencies assisted Iran in arrest of Rigi’
TEHRAN, Feb. 29 (MNA) -- No intelligence agencies of regional countries assisted Iran in the arrest of Jundullah terrorist group leader Abdolmalek Rigi, Iranian Intelligence Minister Heydar Moslehi said on Sunday.
The terrorist ringleader was on a flight from the United Arab Emirates to Kyrgyzstan when he was tracked down by Iranian security forces on Tuesday, February 23.
Rigi was detained on board the flight and the plane was forced to land at Bandar Abbas Airport, where Rigi and his aide were arrested.
Iran has achieved some more success in regard to the Rigi group and will inform the public about this in the near future, Moslehi told reporters on the sidelines of a conference on the Palestinian resistance movement in Tehran.
Asked if the Jundullah terrorist group would be able to continue its activities in southeastern Iran, he said some members of the group are still at large.
In addition, the Jundullah group’s supporters, including the United States, will not halt their support, and they are seeking to appoint a new person as the leader of the group, he added.
However, Iran is closely monitoring every move in the region and Tehran is confident that the Jundullah terrorist group is on the verge of total collapse, he stated.
