Iran will not retreat from its nuclear path

TEHRAN, March 3 (MNA) – Hassan Rohani, director of the strategic research center at the Expediency Council, said on Tuesday Iran will not move back from the path it has taken with regard to its peaceful nuclear program.
“Islamic Republic of Iran aims to safeguard its nuclear achievements and the system will not retreat,” Rohani told reporters on the sidelines of a conference on petroleum and foreign policy.
The Iranian nuclear activities are based on the Non-Proliferation Treaty and the West’s pressure on Iran is unjustified, he asserted.
The former nuclear negotiator also said the doubts expressed about Iran’s nuclear program by Yukiya Amano (director of the International Atomic Energy Agency) are “unfounded”.
Rohani who was renowned as the cleric diplomat under the Khatami administration said Amano has repeated claims by Western officials though the IAEA chief clearly knows that all nuclear activities in Iran are under the IAEA inspections.
Asked on probable new sanctions on Iran, Rohani said great powers may pass a new resolution against Iran, but all these moves fall within a “psychological war” against Tehran.
“Despite Americans’ claims, I see it a remote possibility that the Security Council approves a resolution against Iran,” added the member of the Supreme National Security Council.
