Turkmenistan`s president highly appreciates cooperation with EU.

ASHGABAD, March 3 (Itar-Tass) - Cooperation with the European Union
(EU) and other European countries is one of the priority guidelines of
Turkmenistan's foreign policy, Turkmen President Gurbanguly
Berdymukhamedov said during a meeting with Special Representative for
Central Asia Pierre Morel, who is currently on a working visit in
Turkmenistan, and chief of the EU Office in that country, Norbert Jousten.
Berdymukhamedov said it was a pleasure for him "to mark the dynamic
character of cooperation with the EU and express Turkmenistan's readiness
to intensify fruitful contacts in all spheres," the presidential press
service reports.
The meeting was focused on interaction in the fuel and energy sector
within the framework of the Memorandum on mutual understanding and
cooperation in the energy industry between Turkmenistan and the EU, signed
in May 2008. This document's provisions match well with Ashgabad's
strategy of modernization of the national fuel and energy sector and
diversification of routes for Turkmen fuels to world markets.
Morel briefed the Turkmen president on the stance of leading European
companies, which, he said, are very interested in the fulfillment of
Turkmenistan's energy projects and intensification of business links in
other sectors.
Deliveries of the Turkmen gas to European markets have been central to
the dialogue between Turkmenistan and the EU for the past three years.
