China sends new naval squadron to Gulf of Aden.
BEIJING, March 4 (Itar-Tass) - China sent a new group of its naval
ships to the Gulf of Aden on Thursday for them to escort merchant vessels.
The Xinhua news agency reported that the ships had already left the
naval base in the southern part of Hainan Island. The naval squadron is
consisting of the missile-carrying destroyer Guangzhou, the auxiliary
vessel Weishanhu, and the missile frigate Chaohu. They are to supersede
the Chinese Navy ships that were on patrol near the Somali coast earlier.
