ASIA-PACIFIC AND ASEAN NOT AFFECTED BY SAFETY RECALLS

KUALA LUMPUR, March 5 (Bernama) -- The safety recalls issued by General
Motors Company only affect models sold in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

Asia-Pacific and Asean markets are not affected by this recall mainly
because these models are not available in these markets, the company said in a
statement today.

Furthermore, models in the Asia-Pacific and Asean markets do not share any
common parts with the affected models.

"Despite the fact that the Asean markets are not affected, GM Thailand/Asean
remain fully committed to the quality and safety of our products.

"We will do all we can to maintain our products’ high levels of integrity,"
President of GM Thailand/Asean," Steve Carlisle said.

Affected models include the Chevrolet Cobalt, Pontiac G5, Pontiac G4 and
Pontiac Pursuit, after issues were discovered with the motor in the power
steering system.

A total of 1.3 million vehicles are involved.
