Iran, Russia boost transport links
TEHRAN, March 6 (MNA) – The fourth meeting of the Iran-Russia Joint Transportation Working Group wrapped up with signing a memorandum of understanding in Tehran on Wednesday.
The two sides stressed the establishment of a joint company to fund the proposed Qazvin-Rasht-Astara railway project.
The railway is part of the western route of the North-South International Transportation Corridor. The 350-km railway is to run across Azerbaijan towards the Iranian transportation junction of Qazvin.
The MOU was signed by Iranian Deputy Roads and Transportation Minister Majid As'adi and Russian Head of the Federal Agency for Sea and Inland Water Transport Alexander Davydenko.
Joint production of rails, cooperation in educational fields, transfer of technology, and reduction of visa issuance costs were among the issues which were also discussed in the meeting.
