Iran summons Italian ambassador

TEHRAN, March 6 (MNA) – Following reports that two Iranian nationals have been arrested in Italy Rome’s ambassador to Tehran was summoned to the Foreign Ministry on Thursday.

Iranian TV correspondent Hamid Masoumi Nejad, based in Rome for more than 15 years, along with one other Iranian were detained on Wednesday.

“We pursue the issue vigorously,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said.

Mehmanparast said reports released about the arrest of Iranian nationals shows that “a new play” is being done with “ambiguous purposes.”

“To seek explanation and finding about the pros and cons of the issue we have summoned Italian ambassador to Tehran and pursue the issue vigorously,” Mehmanparast noted.
