New cultural plan must be devised: Iranian president

TEHRAN, March 7 (MNA) -- President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has stressed the need to draw up a comprehensive cultural plan for the national and international spheres.

Ahmadinejad made the remarks in Tehran on Saturday at a meeting with Iranian cultural attachés and representatives based in foreign countries.

He said the Iranian cultural attachés and representatives are the vanguard of the Islamic Revolution’s culture and called on them to redouble their efforts to introduce Iran’s culture and cultural figures to the world.

Making headway in cultural spheres requires a thorough understanding of people, social interactions, and the fact that it is necessary to build a future without capitalism, Ahmadinejad added.

The Iranian president also underlined the importance of cultural dynamism, saying that people should play a more active role in cultural activities.

Cultural stasis is tantamount to cultural death, he noted.

Culture itself is superior to cultural facilities and the message that is transferred through cultural means is of great importance, Ahmadinejad opined.

To that end, there should be a comprehensive cultural plan and an international consensus on culture, he observed.

The president also said that interest in Iranian culture and literature is increasing across the globe and described the Islamic Republic as the only system with a new message for humanity.
