Iran's Judiciary busts ring of corrupt govt. employees

TEHRAN, March 8 (MNA) -- Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Larijani announced on Sunday that the judicial system has arrested members of a major ring of corrupt employees working for a state organization.
In a meeting with senior Judiciary officials in Tehran, he said the members of the ring embezzled millions of dollars by forging government documents.
Ayatollah Larijani stated that 11 key members of the ring have been arrested and all of them have made confessions.
He said the case is in the early stages of proceedings and thus identifying the company or the suspects is prohibited by the law.
He praised the judicial system for tracking down the ring members and dealing with them but said it is unfortunate that such crimes are not prevented.
All three branches of government should make efforts to prevent crime in the country, he added.
He also said the Judiciary’s economic corruption department will inform the public about the details of the case as soon as the legal proceedings are over.
