MALAYSIAN GOVERNMENT SENDS CONDOLENCE TO EARTHQUAKE VICTIMS IN TURKEY

KUALA LUMPUR, March 10 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian government Tuesday
conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Turkey who
suffered the anguish of an earthquake that devastated vast areas in the Elazig
Province, Turkey, on March 8.

Foreign Affairs Minister Anifah Aman in a statement Tuesday said the
government and people of Malaysia shared the pain and anguish of the
bereaved families and the people of Turkey.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with them in this hour of need. May Allah the
Almighty grant them strength and fortitude in facing this tragedy," he said.

A strong earthquake, with a preliminary magnitude of 6, hit eastern Turkey
on Monday, killing at least 41 people and knocking down houses in at least six
small villages.
