SWEDEN DEPUTY FOREIGN MINISTER HOLDS MEETING WITH MALAYSIAN COUNTERPART




KUALA LUMPUR, March 11 (Bernama) -- Deputy Foreign Minister Kohilan Pillay
held a meeting with his Swedish counterpart, Frank Belfrage in Putrajaya
Wednesday, which among others, touched on the current state of bilateral
relations and exchanged views on regional and international issues.


At the meeting, both sides took note of the situation in Myanmar, Middle
East peace process, Malaysia-EU relations, and the recent developments in both
ASEAN and EU, said Wisma Putra (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) in a statement
Wednesday.

Belfrage was here to attend the Heads of Mission Conference of Swedish
Ambassadors from the Asia-Pacific region. The three-day conference ended
Wednesday.

Malaysia enjoys warm and cordial relations with Sweden especially in the
areas of trade, investment, education and defence.

In 2009, total trade between the two countries amounted to RM2.66 billion
(US$1=RM3.4) and Malaysia's exports to Sweden amounted to RM 819.7 million while
imports were valued at RM 1.85 billion.
