MANPOWER IMPORT ISSUES DEBATED



Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ Minister of Social Welfare and Labor T.Gandi in association with entities employing foreign working force have organized a meeting "Current condition of importing manpower from abroad, issues to be under attention".
Representations of about 30 entities and companies gathered to discuss and share views on reasons of importing working forces, present situation, how to decrease the number of foreign employees and cooperation in offering jobs to Mongolians in foreign-invested companies operating in Mongolia.
It is said that in 2009, a total of 31,041 foreigners received official permissions to work in Mongolia. Of them, 84.8 percent was Chinese workers, 4.1 percent--Russian, 0.5 percent--Ukrainians, 1.8 percent--South Koreans, 1.1 percent--the U.S. people, 0.4 percent--Kazakhstanis, and 1.1 percent--North Koreans. A majority of foreign manpower works in mining and construction sectors.
