Asean customs declaration document to take effect by this year end

VIENTIANE ,MACH 11 (KPL) - The Customs Department, Ministry of Finance, held a workshop to evaluate preparation for the implementation of Asean customs declaration document by the end of this year.
The workshop was held in Vientiane on Wednesday with more than 100 representatives of export and import firms from the government and private sector attending the event.
The new customs declaration will substitute the current customs declaration forms in the third quarter of this fiscal year.
Director General of the Customs Department, Mr. Atsaphangthong Siphandone, said that the new Asean customs declaration forms will be used for the first time at Vientiane’s Wattay International Airport by import-export operators.
This is part of facilitating the building of Asean Community by 2015.
“Laos is an Asean member, we have to amend the domestic rule in line with Asean membership,” said Mr. Atsaphangthong.
In the past, the customs department amended domestic regulations to facilitate the import and export of goods in the Lao PDR.
Mr. Atsaphangthong expected that in the future the customs department would further expand the implementation of Asean customs declaration forms to immigration checkpoints nationwide.
