Russia helps India with training its cosmonaut.
NEW DELHI, March 12 (Itar-Tass) -- Russia is helping India with the
training of its cosmonaut. "The implementation of the project for
launching a spaceship with an Indian cosmonaut on board is under way,"
Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has said during an Internet conference with
the Indian public.
"Russia and India have been effectively cooperating in the sphere of
space exploration for a long time," Putin said. He reminded that the
cooperation of the two countries was not confined to the launching of
Indian satellites with the help of Russian carrier rockets. In his
opinion, Russia and India should outline prospects for cooperation in the
sphere of space exploration.
According to Putin, the priority task for the two countries on the
tactical level is the development of joint work in the sphere of GLONASS.
"This is very important, primarily for the economies of the two
countries," he said. "We would like the programmes of the Federal Space
Agency (Roscosmos) to be coordinated with our strategic partners."
